Family life is so hectic, we often forget to pause and appreciate the little moments. And that’s where I can help you. My outdoor family photo shoots capture the magic and wonder of childhood. Let’s go and have an adventure in the great glorious outdoors, and capture some wonderful memories you can treasure forever.
Hello there…
Thanks for stopping by. I’m Louisa, a Cambridge photographer specialising in natural and relaxed family portraits. I photograph fun-loving families in the glorious great outdoors in and around Cambridge, Newmarket and Saffron Walden. My photoshoots are all about having fun together as a family and capturing real, genuine smiles. I love to make beautiful and timeless portraits that will bring a smile to your face whenever you catch a glimpse of them on your wall!
I’d love to work with you and your family, and capture some wonderful photographic memories. So please take a look around, and if you like what you see, lets go on an adventure together and have some fun!

Outdoor Family Photo Shoots
I LOVE to be outdoors, and I find most children do too, so a photo shoot with me will always involve an adventure in the great glorious outdoors! We’re lucky to have a huge choice of green spaces in and around Cambridgeshire and Suffolk. Having spent the last seven years photographing toddlers to teens, I know a wealth of gorgeous locations that offer something to suit every family.
You may prefer to choose a location that means something special to you, like the Norfolk or Suffolk coast. Either way, we will plan all the details of your session together (location, what to wear, what to bring etc) in a consultation call before your shoot day.
Sessions are typically around 2 hours long, but very relaxed and completely tailored to your family. There is plenty of time to climb trees, run races, go on a mini-beast hunt, grab a hot chocolate or even paddle in a stream – whatever your family likes to do!
Being in front of my camera is not about starchy poses and saying cheese with fake smiles. I will give a little direction, for example placing your family in an area of gorgeous light, but thats it! What really matters is that you relax, have fun together and show the love and connection of your family together while I capture some beautiful memories you’ll treasure for a lifetime.

Your Questions Answered
Cambridge family photographer
How do I prepare my children for the shoot?
I get asked this a lot, and it’s useful to explain to children what’s going to happen step-by-step. Most importantly though, is to explain how much fun we are going to have on our photo shoot! I often find my best shots are captured when children are busy playing and being themselves rather than following specific direction from me… Whatever happens, please don’t discipline them for not smiling at the camera or not doing as I ask. Just leave it up to me to make it a fun experience for them (and you!).
What should we bring with us?
Snacks, snacks and more snacks! Keeping children fuelled and full of beans is essential during a photo shoot. I also advise to bring a change of clothes for each child (just in case), a drink, some wipes for young children, and anything else you may usually take out for a walk with your family.
What if it rains?
I only ever schedule one family photo shoot per day, so we’ll start by moving the time of your shoot to avoid the rain. If the forecast looks set to pour down all day, we’ll move your shoot to the next mutually available date.
How do I book?
Do you photograph large family groups?
Yes! I love photographing big family groups. Often, a family photo shoot is bought as a gift for a grandparent’s birthday or anniversary, which is a great way of sharing the cost of some beautiful new portraits for everyone. I don’t charge any extra for large family groups. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, extended family photo shoots are currently not possible. However, as soon as restrictions are eased, I look forward to continuing with them.
Do you photograph babies?
Yes! If your baby is newborn, I would recommend a mixture of lifestyle shots at home and then venturing outdoors as well. If you would like a purely outdoor photo shoot, due to the style of my work, babies need to be able to sit independently – usually from around 6 months old.
What if my child is ill on the day?
As a Mum myself, I know you can never plan for children being ill. It’s best that children are feeling completely well and happy for a family photo shoot, so just let me know as soon as you can and we can re-schedule your date.
I hate the camera! Will you tell me how to pose?
Most families I photograph feel camera-shy! But the good news is that my focus will be firmly on the children and their interation with you. If the children are happy and enjoying the session, then you’ll soon relax and find yourself enjoying it too; I promise! I’ll direct you slightly into the right places and offer advise on the most flattering poses but mostly, I’ll let you interact with your children and capture the fun as it unfolds.
Can I bring my dog?
Absolutely! Pets are just as much part of the family as people and I love including them in family portraits. I’ve photographed families with all sorts of pets – from dogs and cats to horses, guinea pigs and ferrets!
