Mini Shoot Days

CAMBRIDGESHIRE PHOTOGRAPHER

Mini shoots are just that… shorter family photo shoots in the beautiful countryside around Cambridge and Newmarket.  Children love to run around and explore the great outdoors, so as a Cambridgeshire photographer, I find the great glorious outdoors a perfect backdrop to capture special family photos.

Welcome…

Hello there… and thanks for stopping by.  I’m Louisa, a Cambridgeshire photographer specialising in natural and relaxed family portraits. I photograph fun-loving families in the glorious great outdoors and my mini shoot days are all about having fun together as a family and capturing real, genuine smiles.  I love to make beautiful and timeless portraits that will bring a smile to your face whenever you see them on your wall!

Here, I’m going to tell you a little more about my family mini shoot days, so if you’re interested, scroll down to find out when my next dates are scheduled and to book your timeslot!

Family Mini Shoot Days

Throughout the year, I offer a small number of mini shoot days – typically on weekend dates, and usually throughout the Spring, Summer and Autumn seasons.  I choose a date and suitable outdoor location for sessions to take place, then families who wish to book a mini shoot can choose their times slot to come along and meet me on that day.

The shoots last around 30 minutes and run back-to-back, but don’t worry… they are still a fun and relaxed experience.  Being in the glorious open spaces around Cambridgeshire and Suffolk means there’s plenty of space and room for children to run and adults to breathe.

You’ll receive a stunning selection of around 15-20 images to choose from afterwards, and my mini shoot package includes your 5 favourite photos to download with matching professional prints.

Your Questions Answered

Cambridgeshire family photographer

What's the difference between a family photo shoot and a mini shoot?

I get asked this a lot, and the short answer is flexibility.  With a full family photoshoot, the experience is fully bespoke – you choose the date, time, location and we plan the session around your exact requirements.  On my mini shoot days, I choose a date and a location, then families can book a 40 minute timeslot for their shoot on that day.  I run a limited number of mini shoot days each year, whereas family photo shoots can be booked on any date convenient to you.

Are mini shoots suitable for babies?

Yes!  Due to the style of my work, babies need to be able to sit independently – usually from around 6-7 months old.  I would also add that since mini shoots are 40 minutes long, if your baby takes time to settle or requires a feed or change during your mini shoot, we may run out of time.  You may prefer to consider a family photoshoot which would give more time and flexibilty for planning around your baby’s needs.

Do you photograph large family groups?

Yes!  I love photographing big family groups.  Often, a family photo shoot is bought as a gift for a grandparent’s birthday or anniversary, which is a great way of sharing the cost of some beautiful new portraits for everyone. Since mini shoots are only 40 minutes long, your selection of final images may be reduced if your extended family group is large. This is because extra time is needed to gather and pose larger groups of people – you may prefer to consider a family photoshoot which can be planned completely around your family. andallows around 2 hours.

Can I bring my dog?

Absolutely!  Pets are just as much part of the family as people and I love including them in family portraits.  I’ve photographed families with all sorts of pets – from dogs and cats to horses, guinea pigs and ferrets!

What if it rains?

I keep a very close eye on the forecast in the lead up to a mini shoot day and if rain is due,  we’ll start by moving the time of your shoot to avoid the rain.  If the forecast looks set to pour down all day, we’ll move your mini shoot to the next mutually available date.

What if my child is ill on the day?

As a Mum myself, I know you can never plan for children being ill.  If your child is unwell on the day of your mini shoot,  just let me know as soon as you can and we can re-schedule your timeslot for one of my next available mini shoot days.

What should we bring with us?

Snacks, snacks and more snacks!  Keeping children fuelled and full of beans is essential during a photo shoot.  I also advise to bring a change of clothes for each child (just in case), a drink, some wipes for young children, and anything else you may usually take out for a walk with your family.

How do I book?

You can book your timeslot right here on this webpage – just above this section.  Simply click on your prefered date, choose your timeslot, and follow the checkout proceedure.  Please note payment is not taken online.  An invoice for payment will be emailed to you after the checkout process.
